
In 1992, in the midst of a crisis in the world economy, entrepreneur Leija Graf confidently launched Select Travel with a street level boutique facing the most fashionable street in Stockholm. Her intuition and business sense proved right - there was a clear need for a travel operator focusing solely on luxury travel. Hard work, stubbornness and dedication paid off and Select Travel was established as the no. 1 luxury operator in Sweden.
The company soon became famous for its lustrous travel brochures – in particular the 475-page brochure Select Collection, packed with entrancing, glossy pages of hotels hand-picked by Leija. The Collection became so popular that Leija decided to sell it in magazine shops all over Sweden.

That was only the beginning…
In year 2000 the luxury-only concept was multiplied and a street level boutique opened on Bulevardi in Helsinki. The expansion to Finland was equally well received and became a resounding success. Yet another street level office opened in Oslo on Majorstuveien in 2001 and was later accompanied by an office in Copenhagen.
With Scandinavia and Finland covered, new adventures called and the big step was taken to launch a stylish street level travel planning boutique in the heart of Mayfair London. The shop opened in January 2008.

With these words Leija summed up the essence of her travel idea: hands-on, personalized travel where the sense of luxury adventure begins in beautiful offices in the best areas of town, decorated with special items that create an exotic and exciting atmosphere.
In 2010 the company rebranded as Select Collection to capture the essence of yet another new idea. Now Select Collection does not market only a collection of hotels and resorts. It also presents two more collections. In June 2010 a day spa and lifestyle boutique were opened in the Stockholm premises offering a collection of special items and spa treatments from around the world. On top of that a lifestyle boutique was launched in Helsinki.
Select Collection is believed to be first luxury tour operator in the world to fully integrate luxury travel, lifestyle boutiques and a day spa under one roof. The spa concept offers more than 50 different kinds of treatments all inspired by a selection of the 5-star hotels featured in the Select Collection brochure. This way Select Collection clients and spa thirsty locals can sample a treatment from the Maldives, Thailand, Mauritius, Cyprus, Provence, Oman and more… in Stockholm!
